Rating - 385734 Vote / resume - The Kims - mother and father Chung-sook and Ki-taek, and their young adult offspring, son Ki-woo and daughter Ki-jung - are a poor family living in a shabby and cramped half basement apartment in a busy lower working class commercial district of Seoul. Without even knowing it, they, especially Mr. and Mrs. Kim, literally smell of poverty. Often as a collective, they perpetrate minor scams to get by, and even when they have jobs, they do the minimum work required. Ki-woo is the one who has dreams of getting out of poverty by one day going to university. Despite not having that university education, Ki-woo is chosen by his university student friend Min, who is leaving to go to school, to take over his tutoring job to Park Da-hye, who Min plans to date once he returns to Seoul and she herself is in university. The Parks are a wealthy family who for four years have lived in their modernistic house designed by and the former residence of famed architect Namgoong. While Mr. and Mrs. Park are all about status, Mrs. Park has a flighty, simpleminded mentality and temperament, which Min tells Ki-woo to feel comfortable in lying to her about his education to get the job. In getting the job, Ki-woo further learns that Mrs. Park is looking for an art therapist for the Parks' adolescent son, Da-song, Ki-woo quickly recommending his professional art therapist friend "Jessica", really Ki-jung who he knows can pull off the scam in being the easiest liar of the four Kims. In Ki-woo also falling for Da-hye, he begins to envision himself in that house, and thus the Kims as a collective start a plan for all the Kims, like Ki-jung using assumed names, to replace existing servants in the Parks' employ in orchestrating reasons for them to be fired. The most difficult to get rid of may be Moon-gwang, the Parks' housekeeper who literally came with the house - she Namgoong's housekeeper when he lived there - and thus knows all the little nooks and crannies of it better than the Parks themselves. The question then becomes how far the Kims can take this scam in their quest to become their version of the Parks / Bong Joon Ho / 2019 / Drama / South Korea

Even Disney is on this whole live action remake kick. tell me a story I havent heard yet for the love of GOD this movie was good. Their son's painting is actually a key to the end, the ugly face is Moon-Gwang's husband (Geun-sae) there's an arrow pointing up which mean that Sae is coming up from the basement. At the painting, Sae is under a sunlight which reveal that he will come in the sunlight. I bet it will win Oscar for the best screenplay, director and picture. It bothers me that they sometimes spell wifi without a colon and sometimes with. I love foreign films, but subtitles always bother me when they aren't consistent. It's just lazy.

Chills down my spine! Such perfection. This film is a masterpiece. Glad I watched it before the Oscars announced it Best Picture. And too be honest, some of the greatest films out there I've seen aren't from Hollywood. I was on the edge of my seat for two hours! I thought I knew what was going to happen but then it comes around with so many twists and turns. Definitely understand why it won best picture, THEY DESERVED IT. I really want to watch this film on the big screen, I think the director said something about a soon international releasement, hope it comes to my country. Everyone should watch “Snow piercer” a korean film thats also amazing I think it was made by the same director as Parasite. During the entire movie, only one single train comes out but the director really made it awesome. This movie is also about poverty-wealthy. cause there are different classes in the train,and its so different. The poor people in the last section of the train goes through every class and as the class gets higher and higher, the people in the class are richer. To me this is like the saddest movie that I've seen. 😭.
Its interesting to see the guy who play the son speaking English I mean I know he grew up in Canada or something, but its the fact his voice sounds young in English. Whos back here after Parasite won a Best Picture and rewrote history of cinema. This Korean-language movie was such a contrast with the drivel Hollywood churns out. The story was great, the acting was great, and the director maintained tight control throughout. I must see more of Mr. Bong Joon Ho's work.

It's so awesome how so many Korean movies use Classical music for their soundtracks. This one along with great ones like Oldboy and Lady Vengeance.

The music was not from Handel, Belt of faith' by Jeong, Jae il who made all the music used fo r the movie. I think this movie was horror. But this is just another level., 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Parasite is just like that worm in the film you'll notice later in the film when. If you guys enjoyed Parasite I recommend you check out Burning next! Its on Netflix and its also a Korean film thatll mess with your head! It was also nominated for best international film a couple of years ago. I really like when the Dad of the family killed is boss.
